Wouldn't it be handy to have a list of lose weight foods readily available?  That is specific foods to help you lose weight.  Well here is my list especially for you!

These foods are readily available in most supermarkets so they are easy to get a hold of and are at normal prices.   

Low Calorie 'Filling Foods'

These foods are low in fat/calories and are meant to fill you up for longer so you won't go hungry and start snacking one hour after you've had a meal.

  • Fruit
  • Wholewheat Pasta
  • Brown Rice
  • Lean Meat
  • Wholegrain Cereals
  • Beans/Pulses e.g. baked beans, chick peas, lentals

Metabolism Boosting Foods

Below are foods that aid to boost your metabolism.  This is the key to losing weight. 

  • Spices e.g. cumin, cinnamon, ginger, garlic, chili etc.
  • Peas
  • Beatroot
  • Raw Plants e.g. avocado, olives, raw seeds & nuts
  • Raw veg e.g. carrots, peppers, red onion
  • Good Oily (Omega 3) fish e.g. sardines, salmon, kippers
  • Good Oil (Omega 3) e.g. pure olive oil, flaxseed oil
  • Green Tea and Herbal Teas
  • Drink plenty of water

N.B. You need Omega 3 oil to help boost metabolism which in turn helps you shed fat faster.

Reduce Significantly

The foods below cause toxins in your body.  They can't digest properly and so they store fat.

  • Sugar / sugary snacks
  • Processed foods (packets, packed, tins)
  • Caffeine
  • Diet Sodas
  • Alcohol
  • White flour (white bread, cakes, biscuits, white pasta)
  • Dairy products e.g milk, yoghurt, cheese
  • Red meat and animal produces such as burgers, sausages, chicken nuggets
  • Cooking oils, dry fry, boil, bake or grill instead
  • Condiments e.g. red/brown sauce, mayonnaise, salad dressings
  • Microwave meals

Snacking Suggestions

If you must snack between meals then it's okay to snack on the suggested snacking foods below.

This way you feel that you are still in control, will not snack on the wrong foods and know you are safe to do so.

  • Sugar free jelly
  • Raw carrot sticks/cucumber
  • Fruit (limit bananas to one a day)
  • Mullerice yoghurt
  • Wholewheat crispread with low fat soft cheese
  • Butternut squash chips.  Sprayed with low fat cooking spray and roasted in oven.
  • Small handfull of seeds (sunflower, pumpkin etc) or nuts (wallnut, brazil, almonds etc.)

Extra Tips

To keep metabolism going continually, try and eat 5-6 small meals per day (one or two of the above snacks can be classed as a small meal).
