Common foods that people tend to have an intolerance against or need to avoid due to health reasons are:

  • Dairy foods
  • Salt
  • Wheat produce (anything made with flour)
  • Refined sugary food (even fruit)
  • Alcohol
  • Caffeine
  • Red meat
  • Seafood
  • Nuts
  • Refined carbohydrates

You may already know that you have an intolerance against one or two of these foods, but if you have a symptom that comes up now and again and you just cannot figure out why then it could be that you have a food intolerance against a specific food.

You can get food intolerance tests from a chemist or on the Internet where you can test yourself at home. Or you could go to your doctor and ask them to give you a food intolerance test. This usually happens in the form of a blood test then they send your blood to a laboratory where the test is taken.

You can obviously still follow a healthy diet if you have a food intolerance. Get a diet sheet from your GP which eliminates the foods that you have an allergy against. To keep a healthy lifestyle with a food intolerance you should still eat the health diet foods that you can and follow a sensible exercise regime.
